The inscription was first noticed by P. Meriggi on a stone fragment in Karkamış among the orthostat fragments, but it was first published by Börker-Klahn in 1994. The orthostat fragment is dated to 850 BCE, but the inscription has been dated to a later time, possibly in the last quarter of the 8th century BCE. The inscription was first noticed by P.
